First Day Of School

First day of kindergarten
mom has slipped away
once she is out the door

it's cool

a holiday.

The town square is really round
watch the cars do circles
no one seems to notice me
a nice place for a circus.

If I walk a few miles here
show up at our door
mom will be very surprised
and let me stay home more

but it's almost lunchtime
a good time to return
have a bite and make a friend
walk to the park

get lost again.

School is really not so bad
but naps on mats

bad news.

I enjoy a better clime
a pond with fish and geese
a small group of enthusiasts
we won't be missed
they sleep.

Just need to get my jacket
it's quite brisk out here
Oh where now is the building?
I see it B-A-N-K

no fears!

Seems like they have changed
a bit people getting money
but that's fine I need some dimes
to taxi back to mommy.

Not sure why the president
of everyone is here
wants to go next door with me
says my friends are there.

An interesting first day mom
we studied blocks and danced
did a little field work too
and met the president.
