Debussy Moonlight

Everything is rising so
moving up not down
workers in the morning
back from underground.

Steam from grates in cities
tides in beachfront towns
music in the evening
open windows found

All of it is going up
in smoke at first slowly
as we watch from the Blue Ridge
the slow end of cities.   

Then everything is going down
when they drive up here
after all the grocery stores
briefly end hunger. 

Down way down upon the ground
hands behind the back
gaze upon your earth my friend
the one brutally attacked.

Appomattox down the road
different rules and time
history irrelevant
to young computer minds.   

Cluster blast atomic effect
large waves crashing here
all the east coast flooded
highways disappear. 

real estate is rising too
million dollar homes
two bedrooms and a closet
built upon the stones. 

Let us gather on a mountain
under the moon with friends
ancient travelers with their light
spread on the new ocean. 

Live or die we will arise
lune light dreaming free
high up near eternity
or down under the sea.
