Crevasses

On a road long traveled
in a place been tossed
writing stories
fables

about crevasses.

When the large war started
starters were far away.

No one knocked the door and said
I want to start a war 
This person lives past everywhere
has many votes will run.

I found an old boss obit
didn't know he passed
growing old has a few perks
long chained but now untasked. 

No one comes around to talk
ask how are your kids
did anybody buy a house?
no they are expensive.

Once the crevasse opened up
everyone fell in I was like
they light this place
sunset so bright!  Come in!   

Out front the kids playing
"don't look at it" some screamed
I heard them running to the woods
no one watched them 

Apparently!

And then another candle lit
or maybe two or three
they celebrate my birthday
I must go out and see.

Quiet is the little street
a town apart from bells
silent is the one I love
the city phones don't cell.

It's hard to change your
point of view
we've lived here for so long
what is really happening? 
calling my rep right now.

Rioting has started
no one bothering me
the children building
something

up near the woods
stately

tall great blade of morning
glinting in the sun
admin here exploring
by invitation

permits for the bell?

Some seen huffing to the woods
but they get turned around
no one allowed to play in there
unless they have a gun.

When will children play again
laugh and shout outside?
Once they ran towards the woods
now their parents hide.

Hide and seek is still around
though often flashing lights
add context another game
keep everyone in sight.

Freedom used to be the time
to work things out alone
now the calendar decides
next week your problem's solved.

I noticed a young face over there
he used to play out front
never ran out to the woods
but now he clearly does.

Jets fly over daily
just above the trees
now they start
their gatling guns

like in old westerns
Hey?!

My work I think is done right now
recording the first days
holes in all the walls and then
a couple came my way. 

Outside and light of foot again
running to the trees
every step about ten feet
the kids welcoming. 

Dicken's signpost gone away
sharp the tears of eve
just a simple rain shower
no radioactivity. 

All of us just playing
my lovely drifting in
finally a birthday
with candles lit within!

Parents younger than
the kids

all are wild at night 
making a bonfire
enhanced with other bright.

Don't need much sleep at all
no one grows beyond eighteen
sky schools universal

very blue green weening.  

Good-bye the captured planet
the dregs have all gone bye
crevasses ate physical
and all that's left

is sea and sky.
