Cats Eyes Winning

Had a pocket full of marbles
once in the third grade
good day out at recess
dirt scrambles and great plays

Heavy the pants pocket
on the ride back home
on the bus with everyone
and a marble trove.

Cats eyes and the rest of them
beauties every one
gambling surely elevates
grade school experience

In the eyes of others
especially the girls
a pocket full of marbles
might beat a head of curls.

As I write this poem
on a mountain road
publish it upon a stage
remember dusty rolls

Hold eyes up to sunlight
clean them just a little
now they are around the world
marbles love to mingle.

Isn't it a miracle
we can do these things?
Oh the bus does take us far
from back in the third grade.

Just a little journey
circular and sweet
early days first winnings
memories to keep.

Losers can be winners
the past is not the boss
terrible decisions
when my marbles lost.

I must fill a crystal bowl
with Music of the Spheres
call it my Globe Theater Lite
and save them all right here.

Sunday Morn Awake at dawn no mourning just a thought in bed I failed the way of memory and lost the wisdom test.  It was too much to think...
